Nocturne and Laurel
On a continuum between light and dark (in every sense), I think my work is somewhere near the middle, but it can readily slide in one direction or the other. This diptych goes both ways....
The left panel (nocturne) is in the realm of darkness, sleep and dreams. A fragment of an historical woman’s face appears as a landscape; the planet Saturn combining with her eye in a hybrid form. A ghostly white entity enters from the lower left corner.
On the right, bright sunlit laurel refers to daytime and waking consciousness. This manner of contrasting juxtaposition is a common feature of my work. It can make an image more visually/psychologically impactful.
